Questions parents ask

Including the awkward ones. If yours isn't here, email us and we'll answer it.

Is this cheating?

The question most parents ask first

Will ClariPage do my child's homework?

No, and it's built to refuse. ClariPage works on notes and handouts. It organizes what was taught and names what's missing. Point it at a worksheet expecting answers and you'll be disappointed, which is the intended outcome.

How is this different from a chatbot?

A chatbot gives your child a wall of confident text with no way to tell what came from the teacher and what the machine made up. ClariPage labels every point with where it came from. You can always see what was added.

Will my child's teacher have a problem with it?

Show them. ClariPage doesn't produce anything to hand in. It produces study material from the teacher's own lesson, and it flags what your child failed to write down. Most teachers care more about that second part.

Won't my child stop taking notes if an app will fix them?

Fair worry. It's why every set of notes ends by naming what was missed. We want a student who takes better notes next term, not one who stops trying. If ClariPage ever makes note-taking feel pointless, we built it wrong.

Will it actually work for us?

Before you spend an evening on it

What grades is it for?

Elementary school through high school. Set the reading level and the notes, questions and diagrams all follow it. It does the most good in the years when note-taking is still being learned, but it works just as well for a junior revising chemistry.

My child's handwriting is genuinely terrible. Will it cope?

Usually, yes. It's designed for real student handwriting rather than neat samples. More importantly, it tells you when it struggled: every set carries a read-confidence rating, so a page it found hard is marked as such rather than quietly guessed at.

What subjects does it handle?

Anything taught from notes or a handout. It's strongest on subjects with structure, like math, science, geography and history. Vocabulary and definitions work well in any subject. Pages that are mostly long prose produce fewer useful flashcards, simply because there's less to test.

What if the notes are a typed handout rather than handwriting?

That's common and fully supported. Those points get their own label, "from the handout," so you can still tell what your child wrote from what the teacher gave them.

What if it gets something wrong?

It sometimes will. It reads handwriting well and still misreads occasionally, and a diagram is very occasionally wrong. That's precisely why the confidence rating and the labels exist. A child who checks is better off than one who trusts, and we'd rather build the first kind of habit.

What if my child just doesn't get a topic?

Tap Explain this on that section. ClariPage teaches the idea from the beginning, using an example from your child's own notes, then checks understanding with three quick questions. If it still doesn't land, it can explain it another way or more simply.

Can it help me help my child?

Yes. Every explanation has a version written for parents: what your child needs to understand, how to explain it, the mistakes to listen for, and questions to ask, with what a good answer sounds like. You don't need to remember the subject yourself to sit with them and help.

Does it replace a tutor?

No. A tutor teaches. ClariPage tells you what to teach, or what to ask the teacher for. If anything it makes a tutor's hour more useful, because you arrive knowing which concept actually went missing.

How it works in practice

The everyday details

Do I have to type anything in?

No. That's rather the point. You photograph the page, and everything else, notes, diagrams, flashcards, test questions, is produced from it. If you've built a flashcard set by hand at ten at night, this is the part that gives you the evening back.

How long does it take?

About a minute for a few pages. You don't have to wait on the screen. It keeps working if you go do something else and tells you when it's ready.

Can my child use it on their own?

That's the aim, particularly for younger children. Notes are written at their reading level and everything can be read aloud, so a seven-year-old can work through a round of flashcards without an adult sitting beside them.

Can I use one account for two children?

You can, and study sets are shared across the account. There are no separate per-child profiles yet, so two children's material sits in one library. If you'd rather keep them apart, use one account each. Per-child profiles are on our list.

Does it work without a signal?

Studying does. Flashcards, practice and the review queue all work offline, because everything is stored on the device. Photographing new pages needs a connection, since that's the part our servers do.

What devices does it run on?

iPhone and iPad during testing. Android is not built yet.

Is there a limit on how much we can use it?

Photographing pages has a monthly limit, because processing an image costs us money. Studying has none and never will. Flashcards, practice, tests and the review queue are unlimited. Charging a child for the act of studying gets the whole thing backwards. Explanations don't count against your captures, though writing a new one has a generous daily limit as a safeguard. Opening one you've already seen is always free.

What does it cost?

Nothing during testing. We haven't set pricing yet. Whatever we land on, the free capture allowance will be enough to be genuinely useful, and studying will stay unlimited.

Privacy and safety

What happens to your child's work

Do you keep the photographs?

No. Images are sent for processing and discarded once the notes come back. They are not stored in any database or file store of ours.

Does my child need their own account?

No, and they can't have one. A parent, guardian or teacher holds the account. Children study on it and never enter their own details. That was a design decision before it was a legal one.

Is my child's work used to train AI models?

No. We do not enable any option that would allow it, and we don't sell, rent or share your information for marketing.

Are there ads or tracking?

None. No advertising, no analytics trackers, no profiling, nothing sold. There is no advertising identifier in the app.

What if someone photographs something that isn't schoolwork?

It's refused. Pages that aren't study material are declined, and nothing is read, transcribed or generated from them. That check runs before anything else happens.

Can I delete everything?

Yes. Delete an individual set of notes by long-pressing it, or delete the whole account and everything in it with Delete account on your study desk. Our privacy policy sets out exactly what's kept, for how long, and how to get rid of it.
